Beware of this hotel if you're looking for a straightforward and pleasant stay. The decor and rooftop area are pretty nice, and the location is great for exploring the area. However, the experience quickly soured due to aggressive sales tactics that overshadowed the enjoyment of the stay. The added pressure to sit through a lengthy timeshare presentation is definitely not what I signed up for, making it hard to relax. Overall, while the property has some redeeming qualities, the negative aspects significantly impact the stay.

Rooms
7.0
The rooms are spacious and come with a kitchenette, though it's a bit small for cooking a full meal, which might be a hassle for some. The balcony offers a nice view, making it a pleasant spot to unwind.
Service
5.0
The service started off cordial, but the handling of the timeshare situation was anything but friendly, making the overall experience uncomfortable. The staff's response to concerns left much to be desired.
Location
7.0
The hotel is strategically located near downtown, making it easy to explore various attractions in San Diego. However, the surrounding area has its downsides, including a noticeable homeless population.
Dining
5.0
The dining experience was quite disappointing, especially breakfast, which was below expectations. It felt like a coercive setup rather than a genuine dining experience, which tainted my appetite for the offerings.
Facilities
6.0
The rooftop area is a highlight, offering lovely views and a relaxed atmosphere. While the historic charm is appealing, maintenance could be improved overall across the facilities.

6.2/10

I had a mixed experience at this hotel. On a positive note, the staff was exceptionally accommodating and helpful during a booking mix-up, making us feel welcome after a long drive. However, the noise was unbearable at times, with constant disruptions from the street and construction that really made it hard to relax. The location is convenient for exploring, but it's important to note the surrounding neighborhood isn't ideal. Overall, I appreciated the staff's efforts, but the noise and the cramped kitchenette left much to be desired.

The room had a small but functional kitchenette, though it was not ideal for preparing full meals and was not cleaned during my five-day stay.

While the hotel boasts a lovely rooftop patio and is conveniently located within walking distance of downtown attractions, my stay was not without its downsides. The amenities were minimal, the staff seemed very young and inexperienced, and charges for essentials like Wi-Fi and valet parking added up quickly. However, the room was nicely furnished and comfortable, contributing positively to our overall experience.

Rooms
8.0
The room was clean, comfortable, and nicely furnished, and the kitchenette was well stocked for my needs.
Service
5.0
The service was friendly, but the young staff often seemed unsure of themselves and were not particularly helpful with local recommendations.
Location
7.0
The location is within walking distance to downtown, which was great for exploring the area, but access was challenging, especially for those with mobility issues due to the hills.
Dining
6.0
There were plenty of nearby dining options, but the hotel did not offer much for eating on-site, which would have been nice.
Facilities
5.0
The hotel lacked many on-site amenities, which was disappointing considering the overall charm of the place; parking fees were particularly irritating.

While the staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating, this resort falls short in several areas. The location is convenient for exploring San Diego, but the noise and character of the neighborhood leave something to be desired. The rooms, though neat and functional, lacked the space and comfort that one might hope for. Overall, it was a decent stay, but I would recommend looking elsewhere if you value a quieter experience.

The hotel had a lovely boutique ambiance and was ideally located for exploring downtown and Balboa Park, but watch out for the additional costs for Wi-Fi and parking that aren't standard at many hotels. The rooftop patio was a highlight and perfect for relaxing. While the staff was generally friendly, some interactions left a bit to be desired, given their inexperience and lack of communication.
